I Am Not A Plastic Bag

I'm not sure whether is too late to blog about this, but what the heck. The sales of the shopping bag was yesterday 6th July 2007 at Anya Hindmarch, KLCC for RM55 only!! Yup, you heard me, just RM55 only. This limited edition environmentally friendly designer shopping bag has already been seen on the arms of Keira Knightley and Alicia Silverstone. Keng mou??!!!! Not sure still got one or not, I must get the bag and I need to purchase 7 of the bags, each for my lovely seven wives!! It is cheap for designer shopping bag... Lai lai, come give your support in conjunction with The World Environment Day !!!

Each year, an estimated 500 billion to one trillion plastic bags are consumed worldwide. That is over one million bags per minute. Billions end up as litter each year. Plastic carrier bags can take years to break down in landfill.

We’re helping to cut down on this by offering an alternative. The Anya Hindmarch shopping bag.

THE UK’s leading accessories designer Anya Hindmarch recently announced that her hugely covetable I’m Not A Plastic Bag shopping bag would be rolled out globally.

This limited edition environmentally friendly designer shopping bag is an innovative collaboration with global social change movement, We Are What We Do and has already been seen on the arms of Keira Knightley and Alicia Silverstone.

The bag will be available from July in Anya Hindmarch stores in (Hongkong/ Taiwan/ Singapore/ Malaysia). The bag will be made in a limited edition exclusive colour for South East Asia, cream canvas with chic charcoal grey lettering.

The bag will also be launched in the world’s leading boutiques including Corso Como in Milan, Isetan in Japan and Brown Thomas in Dublin.

I’m Not A Plastic Bag has already achieved cult status in the UK where it was launched in March exclusively through Anya Hindmarch UK stores, in Dover Street Market in London, Colette in Paris and Villa Moda in Kuwait.

The bag was also available nationwide through Sainbury’s supermarkets for a month.

All the organisations involved in this project share the belief that using plastic bags is contributing to long term damage to the environment and wanted to offer an alternative that is stylish, affordable and influences people to make small changes that help to make a major difference.

The bag will retail for just RM55. Needless to say this is not a project that is motivated by profit. Rather it is an awareness initiative to make it fashionable not to use plastic bags. Anya Hindmarch said: “As a luxury fashion brand we are in a position where we can influence. I can’t think of a more positive way to do this than producing a desirable and cost effective alternative to a plastic carrier bag.”

David Robinson, founder of We Are What We Do said: “We are absolutely delighted to be working with Anya Hindmarch and our friends at Sainsbury’s once more. This bag is a testament to the power of collaborative effort - like our books, Change the World for a Fiver and Change the World 9 to 5 - everyone has worked on this bag for nothing and without any one of them, we would not be launching such an exciting and important product today.

“The aim of We Are What We Do is to demonstrate how lots of small actions x lots of people = big change.

“It doesn’t have to involve radical changes to our lifestyles - there are so many simple, practical things that can make a real difference.

“Saying no to plastic bags is just one and we hope that while they’re carrying our bag, people will think of other things that they could do while they’re out shopping.”
